Principal's Message

Cannon Family,

I am very excited to welcome you back for the 2022-2023 school year.  I am honored to continue my journey as the Principal at D.C. Cannon.  This will be my 12th year as an administrator and my 24rd  year in education. I started my teaching career at D. C. Cannon as a first grade teacher in 1999.  I absolutely love the students, parents, and community of Quinlan.

At D.C. Cannon, our mission is to care for the whole-child by offering an engaging and safe learning environment that supports every child’s social, emotional & academic needs.

Cannon Panthers Can! With that in mind our campus theme this year is, The Brightest Stars in the Galaxy are at D. C. Cannon!  Anything and everything is possible when we allow children shine bright!

Communication is key between parents and teachers.  Students spend a good part of their day with their teachers.  At Cannon we want to keep an open line of communication.  Communication comes in many forms.  One way teachers will be communicating is by sending home daily communication through take home folders.  Second graders will have a folder that they bring home on Wednesdays.  Another way teachers and parents can communicate is through email, notes sent in the students’ daily folders, social media apps such as Class Dojo or Remind, and phone calls/conferences.  Being able to communicate with each other allows parents and teachers to be on the same page and share the same goal.  Our goal is to have our students be academically, socially, and emotionally successful.

We are looking forward to a great school year!

Sincerely,

Kim Grugel

D.C. Cannon Principal
