I am very excited to welcome you back for the 2020-2021 school year. I am honored to be joining the Cannon family as the new campus Principal. This will be my tenth year as an administrator and my twenty-second year in education. I started my teaching career at D. C. Cannon as a first grade teacher in 1999. I absolutely love the students, parents, and community of Quinlan.
At D.C. Cannon, our mission is to care for the whole-child by offering an engaging and safe learning environment that supports every child’s social, emotional & academic needs.
Every Child. Every Day. With that in mind our campus theme this year is, Dream BIG, Sparkle MORE, and Shine BRIGHT. Anything and everything is possible when we allow children to dream and shine!
Communication is key between parents and teachers. Students spend a lot of their day with their teachers. At Cannon we want to keep an open line of communication. Communication comes in many forms. One way teachers will be communicating is by sending home daily communication through take home folders. Second graders will have a folder that they bring home on Thursdays. Another way teachers and parents can communicate is through email, notes sent in the students’ daily folders, and social media apps such as Class Dojo or Remind. Being able to communicate with each other allows parents and teachers to be on the same page and share the same goal. That goal is to have our students be academically, socially, and emotionally successful.
We are looking forward to a great school year!
